Spirit Train is an Unreal Engine audio project meant to study immersive audio systems in Unreal. Visuals are inspired by Japanese animation.
Role
Foley Artist, Sound Engineer, Level Creator
I recorded and implemented all in-game sound using FL Studio and Audacity, capturing audio at real-world locations — historic battlefields, train stations, and public parks — to create an authentic, immersive soundscape. I paid close attention to how sound behaves across materials and incorporated effects like Doppler simulation (e.g. the passing train) for added realism. I coordinated with the local band Make for Main, handling permission contracts to legally include their music. While key elements like the train stop benches and cover were custom-modeled, I compiled and assembled the rest of the environment into a cohesive, playable experience. Music composed by Kyle Salcedo; co-programmed with Aaron Chang.
